The Rover’s twin-named co-owners, Kim Winslow and Kim Winslow purchased the vessel in 2007. Mr. Kim boasts more than 50 years of experience with yacht ownership, charter sailing, and delivery.

He maintains a 100-ton, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner Credential with a sailing endorsement, a Federal Communications Commission radio license, and EMT certification.

Kimberly provides reservation assistance and local knowledge to guide your OBX adventure.

The Vessel

The Downeast Rover is a US Coast Guard inspected sailing vessel which has operated in Manteo since 1991. It is one of 34 custom vessels designed by Merritt Walter, a renowned Hampton Roads, VA naval architect and USCG-licensed ship master specializing in traditional steel sailing vessels and passenger schooners, having founded Rover Marine Inc. in 1978. His designs, including the Downeast Rover, the American Rover and Jolly Rover, emphasize robust construction, seaworthiness, and practical utility for charter operations.
